Artist Bio

I’m Corey De Lima Nutter, the artist behind CDLN Studio. My introduction to abstract painting began in 2020 while my spouse and I were living in Toronto during the pandemic. With her encouragement, I decided to start painting and I never looked back. What started as a hobby quickly grew into something far more meaningful. We converted our spare bedroom into a small studio—cramped, but enough to ignite a deep commitment to the craft. What began as a way to navigate lockdown evolved into a disciplined, intentional practice that continues to shape my work today.

My work is rooted in texture, colour, emotion, and the raw edges of the human experience. I use layered plaster, acrylics, and mixed media to create depth and movement—pieces that invite viewers to feel something rather than simply look. Every painting carries its own energy. Some emerge from quieter, heavier moments; others from a place of intensity or momentum. Each one evolves from the base plaster upward, guided by instinct, structure, and whatever the moment calls for.

I grew up in Petawawa, Ontario, in a military family, and later served six years as an infantry soldier with 1RCR—an experience that shaped my sense of resilience and discipline that I carry throughout my life. After moving into film and television work in Toronto, I eventually returned to painting, this time with full commitment. My art now blends personal history with a broader reflection on what it means to move through the world—its weight, its beauty, its chaos, its quiet.

Today, my paintings are collected by people looking for work that does more than fill a wall. Each piece is a conversation—part my story, part the viewer’s, meeting somewhere in the layers.

My art is an extension of who I am, and each work is created to build connection. I invite you to explore the pieces that resonate with you.
